THE 2013 Radical Australia Cup will kick off in the best possible way when the category commences its new era as a major racing category at the 2013 Top Gear Festival Sydney. The 9-10 March event will bring action to every corner of Sydney Motorsport Park and as well as featuring the stars of the massive worldwide hit Top Gear in Jeremy Clarkson, James May & The Stig, will also now feature the Australian racing debut of the V8-powered Radical SR8 RX…….famed for it’s no 1 spot on the Nurgburgring’s Nordschleife fastest lap board.

Multiple SR8 entries will race alongside the existing SR3 Cup Cars in 2013 in a growing field of entries at the first round for the Radical Australia Cup next year.

The opening round of the Radical Australia Cup will be staged on the full 4.5 km Sydney Motorsport Park layout, the first time the series – based at the circuit – will have raced on the newly-christened ‘Brabham’ layout.

Radical Australia Cup competitors will contest the series usual ‘enduro’ format, which will include a 50-minute race with compulsory pit stops and plenty of the usual highly competitive on-track action.

The round will also double as a round of the state-based Radical Clubman Cup which will return to the Calendar for 2013, further expanding the grid at Top Gear Festival Sydney.

Proudly Sydney-based, Radical Australia is one of Australia’s largest importers of racing cars with more than 80 cars now in the country across the east, west & south coast. The national Radical Australia Cup will enter its third season at an Australian level, competing primarily with the Shannons Nationals series.

Radical Australia’s factory and offices are based at Sydney Motorsport Park and the business has a strong connection with track promoters, the ARDC.

“We feel very privileged to be the first racing category announced to race at the 2013 Top Gear Festival Sydney,” said Radical Australia Sales & Marketing Manager, Tom Wilson.

“It is a major shot in the arm to our competitors and to the category as a whole that we can commence our new season at what is set to be such a high profile event. The fact that we will be making the Australian Racing Debut of the brand-new SR8 cars is just a bonus.

“The V8 scream of the new cars should fit perfectly with the whole premise of the Top Gear Festival – They are loud, fast and very exciting to watch and that seems to sum up everything that the weekend is about.

“This is a great way to work on building the profile of the Radical Australia Cup and introducing our cars and drivers to a new audience at a new major event on the Australian Motorsport and motoring landscape.

“We might have to invite Jeremy and James to sample the SR8s and see what the Radical Australia Cup is all about – while the Stig could become one of the most-wanted co-drivers for the endurance race amongst our regular competitors!”

Further details about the remaining rounds of the 2013 Radical Australia Cup, and the 2013 Radical Clubman Cup will be announced in due course.
