2011 Radical Australia Cup Champion Edward Singleton will need to pack his bags for an international trip as part of his prize for winning the series – and the 2012 Champion will receive the same opportunity.

Reflecting Radical’s international status, Singleton will travel to the renowned Nurburgring circuit in Germany to compete in 2012 as Australia’s representative in that round of the Radical European Masters.

Featuring drivers from around the globe, the series attracts grids of 60-plus cars at each round.  Radical Australia is pleased to confirm this prize is ongoing and will also be awarded to the 2012 Radical Australia Cup champion.

The prize, one of the most significant on offer in all of Australian Motorsport, maintains Radical Australia’s position as a key domestic market for the global Radical brand and the growing status of the Radical Australia Cup, now approaching its third year.

The Radical Australia Cup features as the pinnacle of a multi-tiered structure involving everything from corporate drive days and experiences, state level racing right up to the full national series on some of Australia’s’ best circuits.

2011 winner Edward Singleton said the prize was a key factor in attracting him and his team to the Radical Australia Cup this year.

“It is one of the biggest prizes in any major category in Australian Motorsport,” he said.

“Certainly it was one of the reasons we made sure we completed the full season, committed to every round and ultimately were fortunate enough to win the championship. It has to be the best prize on offer in the sport and it’s a big drawcard.

“You can go and buy a drive overseas but this is so different and it’s not often a series can offer something of this value as a trophy for competitors.”

Radical Australia’s Greg Smith said the company was looking forward to awarding the prize again, in 2012.

As it does for Singleton, the prize will offer the 2012 series-winning driver flights, accommodation and a drive in the featured Radical European Masters round.

“The prize reflects Radical’s status as an international category and allows us to reward our local competitors for their performance and commitment,” Smith explained.

“It’s great we can send our champion over to race against the best Radical competitors in the world and show what the Australian’s are capable of. It reflects very well on our series internationally and also shows how competitive the Radical Australia Cup is ‘down under’.”

The 2012 Radical Australia Cup will be contested over seven rounds, split between Eastern Creek (NSW), Phillip Island (VIC), Sandown (VIC) and Wakefield Park (NSW).

The series will continue to feature a variety of racing formats as seen this year, and will continue with the ‘Pro/Am’ format introduced this year – wherein professional drivers can compete in up to two of the scheduled rounds.
